The United Nations reports that there were over 68 million refugees world-wide at the end of 2017. These are people who have lost their homes through no fault of their own and are forced to seek asylum in neighboring countries. Giving them a chance for a new life is the challenge of our generation. Please join us to learn and discuss some of the challenges and also some of the joys of recent refugees to Delaware. You will hear refugees and host/mentors tell their personal stories and you will have the opportunity to continue the conversations over light refreshments in a small group setting. There will be a brief presentation by Jewish Family Services of Delaware’s RISE (Refugee Integration Support Effort) Program. Ways to help in their integration effort will also be discussed. Donations (bedding, school supplies, first aid supplies) for the Syrian refugee collection will be gratefully accepted.
