Proclamation in Observance of Peace Week Delaware

  • Whereas, since the inception of Peace Week in 2016, there has been a growing body of individuals and organizations dedicated to seeking nonviolent solutions to conflicts that arise in our communities and to promote peace throughout Delaware; and
  • Whereas, Delaware and the nation have experienced many challenges during this period of global pandemic and citizens are pulling together to address the strengths and needs that exist in our communities, especially among our essential workers; and
  • Whereas, Peace Week Delaware works to raise awareness, hope, and action for peace, equality, and justice across Delaware; and
  • Whereas, the celebration is marked by events organized to educate Delawareans on how to get involved in advocating for peace; and
          • Whereas, it is important for Delawareans to be involved to activities that will support a peaceful Delaware.
            Now, Therefore, We, John Carney, Governor, and Bethany Hall-Long, Lieutenant Governor, do hereby declare October 2nd-10th, 2021, as

PEACE WEEK DELAWARE
in the State of Delaware, and urge all citizens to recognize the essential role that Peace Week Delaware plays in encouraging a culture of peace in our state.
