In America, we have become increasingly polarized in our political views and ever more distrustful of our fellow citizens. What can help us repair this breach and foster a sense of civic renewal, even in the midst of a high-stakes election cycle?
In this half-day workshop, spiritual director and community minister Kelly Murphy Mason will explore the dynamics of deepened national division and introduce some individual and collective practices for depolarizing various encounters and enhancing goodwill among us, expanding on her experiences with the Georgetown University Berkley Center and Braver Angels, a national bi-partisan organization.
Together, we’ll explore what makes it so difficult for us to agree to disagree these days, how we can exit the assorted echo chambers we inhabit, and what might inspire us to put greater trust in the democratic process — and in one another.
